If the person doesn't know where to check both have them call a supervisor. Ask them the error code they are getting. If its 26 you are pooched. Its an error with address verification that comes in even on sites that don't verify address. No work around. They have a team working on it but its been over 6 months and essentially visa is blaming them and they are blaming visa.
